Festivals and events

Purbeck has a huge variety of events and festivals throughout the year.

Swanage and Purbeck Walking Festival Held annually in September, the Swanage and Purbeck Walking Festival offers themed and guided walks exploring the history, the wildlife and the stunning Jurassic Coast.

Swanage Blues Festivals are held in March and October.  They draw top blues musicians, and pull in fans and friends for a weekend of jams, open mic sessions and headline performances.

Camp Bestival  is a multi-award winning festival held every July at Lulworth Castle.  Many visitors combine the family festival experience with a camping holiday, and there is a huge amount on offer including musical performances and sideshow attractions.

Swanage Carnival and Regatta another event that takes place at the height of the season, at the end of July – a major event for Swanage enjoyed by both locals and visitors. The Carnival is a week of sporting and music events with a spectacular procession, an air display and fireworks.

The Purbeck Film Festival is the longest running rural film festival in UK – about 70 film performances are held in the last two weeks of October in venues throughout Purbeck.

Purbeck Art Weeks Over 80 artists living and working in Purbeck open their studios to the public every year during this celebration of local art, held in late May, early June.

Sporting events include the Purbeck Marathon, the Purbeck Plod, Rowing regattas, triathlons and cycling events.
