Christchurch and East Dorset

Congratulations on passing the Dorset County module!  Now you are at the last step to becoming a Dorset Ambassador, and have chosen the Christchurch and East Dorset module as your ‘specialist subject’.

This module is for everyone who works in tourism but in particular those who live and work in East Dorset.  It provides you with all the basics you need to make sure visitors receive the warmest possible welcome, vital for anyone who needs to know what the area offers. And you will learn some interesting facts – facts you can pass onto your customers when they ask.  If you want to know more about Bournemouth or Poole (both key towns in this area) there are separate Ambassador training sites for these.

Make sure you read each section carefully before attempting the quiz at the end.  When you’ve completed this successfully you will be a Dorset Ambassador and can print your certificate. And, if it inspires you to go further, you can always complete one of the other regional modules as well. We are also pleased to let you know that there is now a free Dorset Ambassador pin badge available for you to wear with pride. Please email tourism@westdorset-weymouth.gov.uk with your postal address and we will ensure that your badge is sent to you.

For visitors, East Dorset is not only an interesting area in its own right, but a place to stay which offers good links to the New Forest , the major coastal town of Bournemouth and the Dorset coast.  Christchurch forms the eastern end of the conurbation of Bournemouth and Poole and Wimborne Minster is also a popular place for tourists.  And did you know that life expectancy at birth for males in East Dorset was 80.1 years in 2001-2003, the highest in the United Kingdom!

There are four short lessons to complete.  So good luck!
